Frequently asked questions
We're an independent service, not a recruitment agency. We match you with live Civil Service vacancies and help you prepare honest, stronger applications. We can't promise anyone a job.
What is civilservicejobs.app?
An independent website that matches you with live UK Civil Service job adverts and, soon, helps you prepare stronger, honest applications and get ready for interviews. We are not part of, or endorsed by, the Civil Service, the Cabinet Office or GOV.UK.
Are you a recruitment agency?
No. We don't recruit, employ, shortlist or put anyone forward for a job, and we have no influence over any recruitment decision. You always apply yourself, through the official advert, usually on the Civil Service Jobs website.
Can you guarantee me a job or an interview?
No, and nobody honestly can. Our aim is to help you find roles that genuinely suit you, understand what each one asks for, and prepare applications and interview answers based on your real experience, so you have a better chance of being shortlisted and interviewed. The decision is always the employer's.
Is it free?
Job matching, the CV checker, the pension calculator and our guides are free, with no account needed. Guided help turning your real experience into application examples is paid from prepaid credit: each feature shows its price before it runs (for example, 50p to strengthen one behaviour), credit never expires, and you can ask for unused credit back at any time. New accounts get free credit to try it.
How does the job matching work?
You upload your CV. We remove your name and contact details, then use automated tools to estimate your level, the kinds of role you suit and where you're based. We compare that with live adverts, leave out jobs you've told us you can't apply for under the advert's nationality or visa rules, and rank the rest. It's automated and can be wrong, so always read the official advert.
Where do the jobs come from?
From public Civil Service job adverts, checked every morning. We show a short summary and always link to the official advert, which is the only authoritative version. Jobs can close or change before our listings update.
Do you store my CV?
No. Your CV is read once to find matches and isn't saved. Before it's analysed we automatically remove your name, contact details, address and similar personal details. Your results are kept only in your own browser tab, and "Forget my CV" clears them. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
Will you write my application for me?
No. Civil Service adverts say that AI can support an application, but every example and statement must be truthful, factually accurate and taken from your own experience, and applications that present AI-generated work as your own may be withdrawn. Our tools help you find and organise your own real examples and express them clearly. You stay responsible for what you submit.
Why can't I see some jobs?
If you tell us your nationality or that you need visa sponsorship, we leave out jobs whose adverts say you can't apply, for example roles open to UK nationals only. If an advert doesn't make its rules clear, we still show it. We tell you how many jobs were left out and why.
How accurate are the match scores?
They're suggestions to help you decide where to spend your time, not a prediction of whether you'll succeed. Strong, possible and stretch labels describe how closely a job fits what we could read from your CV. Always check the essential criteria in the official advert.
Who runs this site?
DOCTRAN AI LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15257764).
How do I contact you?
Use our contact form. We read every message and aim to reply within a few working days.
